It was difficult to find anywhere open for dinner on a Sunday evening at the end of November so despite reading various negative reviews, we thought we would give it a try.
The Yum: The menu offers a selection of starters, pizza, fish and seafood all with the option to combine (and significantly increase the price) with real caviar. Our Gabones Rojas shared as a starter were nicely cooked but only luke warm, despite being served in a fancy stone ‘warming’ dish. The grilled artichokes were most enjoyable. 3 of us opted for pizza and the 4th turbot. All were only luke warm and disappointing. Fish was dry and the vegetables raw/dry. Pizza is strange – fluffy bread texture edging with the centre 1mm thin and hard but not crispy. As they blobbed cold mozzarella on them, they were all cold. Whole morel mushrooms which had been dried and refreshed were chewy and unappetising. Tiramisu was delicious but lacked any alcohol in it.
The Fizz: The wine list can only be accessed with a mobile phone and qr code. Takes ages to scroll thru and wines are obviously pricey. Served in nice glasses, we opted for a light Garnacha to start for 38eur, and two bottles of Ribera at 45eur.
The Rest: For 75eur per head we expected more. 12eur for bread is excessive. The decor of the restaurant is absolutely stunning and clearly winner with younger clientele who will place emphasis on photos and selfies. The servers clearly try their best but were not especially interested. Luckily we were located near a service station so we were able to attract attention.
Yumfizz rating: A lukewarm 5/10, like their pizza and service. There are too many other much better restaurants around to return to this one sadly.
