Something a little different. As Yumfizz was visiting Málaga for the day, and Vermouth is making huge comeback, we signed up for a tasting event with Winederlust. Run by two lovely ladies, the is essentially a wine club who supply online as well as organising tasting events.
The Yum: It was obvious that a lot of research had been carried out to ensure that the vermouths were paired with the appropriate tapa. We tried Papillones (big fat juicy mussel served on potato crisps), chicharrones (wafer thin cooked pork drizzled with orange) and the infamous Gilda (named after Rita Hayworth).
The Fizz: The range of flavours of vermouths is surprising. This particular event presented those from the Valsangiacomo Bodega and were all excellent and different. We especially enjoyed the Gin and Vermouth cocktail at the end. The prices were very reasonable and they happily arranged local delivery so we ordered a couple of bottles of each type.
The Rest: Set in the beautiful small Villa Antumalal hotel in the Málaga hills, in the warm sunshine enjoying spectacular views, it was pretty perfect. Many of us attending this event did not know much about the origins of vermouth and it was educational as well as delicious! Winederlust organises private bespoke tastings for 10 to 20 persons in the Málaga/Mijas Costa/Marbella area.
Yumfizz rating: 10/10 because there is nothing that they need to improve! We will enjoy watching this new business become even more successful 🙂
