This was a special wine tasting event with prior booking, held on Monday night in February. Contracata is a favourite and we always have a great time.
The Yum: food here is always good and as it was a set menu, we had various courses of small dishes to pair with the wines. Their artichokes are always a highlight – cooked and presented in a way to demonstrate the most natural flavour. One of our group had some food allergies and these were respected with the best of care.
The Fizz: Presented by the guest Somellier from the renowned Takumi restaurant, the drinks to accompany the menu were memorable and we agreed that we had never experienced pairings like this. There were two glasses with each dish and every mouthful brought a different taste to the palette. Beginning with a glass of white fizz with a green leaf which tasted just like Champagne and Oysters will give you an idea. We loved the beer which is blended with a moscatel grape too.
The Rest: Dining here is always a friendly and casual experience and Godoy is an expert on wine. It was a set price menu of outstanding quality/price ratio and they should seriously charge more.
We can’t wait for the next event but will probably be back to visit anyway very soon indeed.
