Enjoying Marbella, restaurant by restaurant…

Enea Casa de Comidas

We were excited to see that Back Group has opened their new venture in the same premises of one of our old favourites Conmpasion.  Tucked away in the famous Calle Estrecho in Marbella Old Town, it’s set on various floors and we booked a table on the roof terrace for the ‘outdoor’ feel. Décor is very simple, clean, boho – perhaps a little sparse on the lower floor.
The Yum: The menu is small and dishes are designed to be shared. We began with a grilled avocado presented on thin slices of fresh tuna, a very good traditional Salmorejo, moving on to fried Payoyo cheese balls topped with quails egg and finished with a very interesting deep fried turbot (flesh removed, skin on, deep fried and presented on the whole deep-fried carcass).  We finished everything but perhaps the avocado could have been a little more exciting, cheese balls crispier and skin on fish was unusual.
The Fizz: The wine selection was definitely a highlight. Very reasonable prices and we opted for a long time favourite (very difficult to find) Jarel dry Moscatel.
The Rest: It is mentioned on booking that they have a 90mins turnaround on tables. We ran over time and they very kindly offered to move us downstairs to continue. Service is low key, unobtrusive, friendly and professional.  We would definitely want to return again to try out some of the other things on the menu. It’s a perfect peaceful setting for dining with friends and being able to talk, whilst enjoying some simple sophistication.
