Having a broken ankle and in a wheelchair, as well as some rainy weather on a miserable Monday resulted in YumFizz being in dire need of some cheering up. We grabbed the opportunity of a lunchtime wine tasting event at the beautiful Astoria Beach Club in Marbesa/Elviria.
The Yum: They presented us with a beautiful 3 course set lunch of the their legendary Astoria toast (who doesn’t like lobster, seafood, trout caviar and mayo… definitely yum), Seabass with asparagus and ending with a special yoghurt dessert. All delicious.
The Fizz: Food was paired with a variety of organic wines and cavas from a Catalan bodega in Peñedes. Whole point of a tasting menu is to push the palette of the diner and they definitely achieved this – but all were absolutely excellent quality.
The Rest: The staff at ABC are exemplary. Really friendly and with an exceptional eye for detail. They will close at the end of October sadly for the winter season, but we will eagerly await their return in the Spring as YumFizz is sure to return. A special mention should be made that the restaurant has fantastically easy access from the parking to the inside which made life with a wheelchair incredibly easy. The Astoria group (they also have the Brasserie in Nueva Andalucía) isn’t known for economical pricing but that’s not their target market. It’s quality without being stuffy.
